School re-opens Monday 1st July 2019

It’s been a bumper year! It is with an enormous sense of pride that I announce to you our results for academic year 2018. The Year 6 SATs results are the best our school has seen in well over a decade, possibly two; with outstanding progress having been made across the key stage and some exceptional personal achievements, along with our Year 1 Phonics results which also stand at a record high! Our KS1 attainment is also very good, as are the proportion of children reaching a good level of development by the end of Reception. In fact, this has been a bumper year for Ryders Hayes as we go from strength to strength with the quality of our teaching and learning and our evidence-based practice, as well as maximising children’s attitudes to learning and the effort they put in, with some real help and encouragement from you. It is not simply academic success we have enjoyed this year, but rather the culmination of 4 years of extremely hard work and continuous school improvement to shape our school and pupil experience: enriching the curriculum; providing a vast range of extra-curricular opportunities and a personalised curriculum; a wealth of musical and sporting opportunities; new partnerships in the region and links with industry. None of this would have been possible, without the commitment and dedication of our governors, leaders, teachers and all support staff, who give so much of themselves: their time, and their care, beyond their expected responsibilities, to uphold our high standards and expectations, and ensure that our children have the very best possible start in life. We are very fortunate to have built such a wonderful team around our children, with our pupils at the heart of every decision we make, working in a vibrant and exciting learning environment with a range of in-house and external experts. We hope that you are equally proud to be part of the Ryders Hayes extended family. These are our results:

Ruth Miskin We are a “Get Reading. Keep Reading. Change Everything.” school. We use the highly successful Read Write Inc. Phonics programme to teach our children to read, write and spell. Our children do well in the phonics screening check and by Year 2, the majority are fluent readers with the best chance of success in the KS1 tests. Ruth Miskin Training recognise us for teaching the Read Write Inc. programmes with fidelity and passion – we know what it takes to make literacy pleasurable and rewarding for our children. This badge recognises that we:

  • Raise standards in reading and writing for our children
  • Are all expertly trained by Ruth Miskin Training – including our headteacher Mrs Sally Miner
  • Gain the latest programme updates through regular visits from our Ruth Miskin trainer
  • Release our reading leaders to ensure our high standards are maintained.
